in 1986, an overwhelming majority of the mha nation’s tribal citizens was disfranchised from their rights to vote on the fort berthold indian reservation due to  a decision taken on the people’s behalf by their tribal government that eliminated absentee voting ballots.

the Article X Amendment of the  mha nation ‘s 1937 Tribal Constitution gives its tribal people the express and independent power to petition the Secretary of the interior, SOI, the Indian people’s trustee, for relief of their grievances against their tribal government.

that right to petition recognizes and exonerates the INHERENT SOVEREIGNTY of the tribal people that can and should be exercised when the tribal government runs roughshod over the electoral rights of its tribal citizens.

However, the tribal people’s sovereignty has been misappropriated  and stifled through the exercise of a virtual MONOPOLY of POWER by the mha nation’s tribal government, aided by a small minority of tribal members, as well as the Local bia Agency, that sabotaged the lives and rights of the tribal people and their right of petitioning  its trustee.

Therefore, our organization, the Fort berthold legacy vision (FBLV), has, out of necessity, taken on the  monumental task of BREAKING THIS MONOPOLY OF POWER by restoring the reasonable RIGHT to PETITION to the true, inherent sovereigns of the Fort Berthold indian Reservation: its tribal people.

IF YOU ARE A MHA TRIBAL MEMBER OVER THE AGE OF 18 AND WOULD LIKE TO SIGN OUR PETITION TO RESTORE OFF-RESERVATION VOTING RIGHTS, PLEASE SEND YOUR NAME, MAILING ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL and tribal registration number THROUGH OUR CONTACT FORM BELOW or at fblvote@gmail.com. tHANK YOU.
